What is your book about?
The career of the first black police officer hired in a small northwest Ohio town. After two plus decades of service, the city filed 16 conduct allegations against Sgt. Moore and fired him. His integrity, character, and more importantly, his faith, are now put to the highest test.
What inspired you to write your book?
The deaths (murders) of Trayvon Martin and Philando Castile along with the encouragement of my daughter-in-law, Amanda Hyde.
What is a typical day like for you?
Early morning meditation, reading, and planning, work out with my stepson, yard work, train high school athletes, girls softball practice, work on home-based business, Zoom calls, sit on porch and/or watch Netflix movies with my wife.
What do you most enjoy about what you do?
I enjoy coaching and training kids, traveling, and meeting different people.
What are some favorite books you’d recommend to our readers?
1. Legacy by James Kerr, 2. I Heard God Laugh by Matthew Kelly, 3. The Dream Maker by Monica Hannon, 4. Atomic Habits by James Clear.
What advice do you have to offer our readers?
We all have the ability and power to help create positive change within our society. We can’t be afraid to step out on faith and make it happen. The more you do for other people, the more will be given to you.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
As much as I love to work out and train others, I am the biggest junk food junkie on this side of the Mississippi…my wife will confirm that.
What’s next for you?
With the COVID-19 restrictions being lifted, I plan on doing more public speaking. I want to help foster more positive change in communities by bridging the gap between police departments and their communities.
