What is your book about?
This book gives expert advice for these situations: drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, anxiety and depression, and other mental health issues, bullying, teen pregnancy, helping teens through a family divorce, helping teens adjust to living in a step family, LGBTQ teens, teens in trouble with the law, introverted shy teens, and many more relevant topics.
What inspired you to write your book?
My career working with teens and what they taught me.
Can you describe your writing process? How did you get your book written and how long did it take?
It tool at least five years! From writing the first draft to edit after edit, contracting with a book coach, contracting with a hybrid publishing company. Attending conferences where I met Stephanie!
What was your publishing process like? How did you publish your book and how long did it take?
At first I worked with Amazon’s publishing then they closed so I had to find a new company which I did. It was expensive but I was happy with the result.
How do you hope your book impacts the world?
I am hoping that parent’s will feel supported, not blamed and get advice on the most challenging issues they face raising teens.
Are there any people and/or books that have inspired you along your journey?
Being a counselor, I have read thousands of books on psychology, self-help, etc. And, I attend conferences with thought leaders in the field.
What’s next for you?
I am currently writing a book for women on expectations and how those impact their wellbeing.
What advice would you offer fellow authors who are just getting started?
Definitely know about the Non-Fiction Writers if they are writing non-fiction. Start with a writing coach!
