What is your book about?
A humorous guide filled with helpful tips and stories for parents of high schoolers who are considering going to college.
What inspired you to write your book?
I am a college coach and have helped many families through this process. When my own children were going through the process, I wrote them each a book of their own and then later while getting my MFA I decided I would turn it into a book for parents.
If you have a business related to your book, tell us about it:
College Coaching with Care is a premier tutoring and coaching business providing personal one-on-one guidance to families who are going through the process of getting their kid to college.
What is a typical day like for you?
Online or in-person, I see families every day and listen to their journey, providing helpful tips and information and guiding them to the right fit for their child. We discuss everything from curriculum, majors, extracurriculars, and more.
What do you most enjoy about what you do?
I have lived the process with so many families that the best part for me is when I start receiving texts from students and parents about where their child got in or is going. It’s exciting to see them through the process.
What are some favorite books you’d recommend to our readers?
A new-ish writer I love is Terrance Hayes. I highly recommend his book of modern sonnets, “American Sonnets for My Past and Future Assassin.”
What advice do you have to offer our readers?
Keep believing in yourself, even when it’s dark, and invest in yourself and your writing. Invest time, effort, money, whatever it takes, invest in you and what you have to say.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I am 4’10 1/2″; I think I’m a loud personality so I appear larger than I am lol
What’s next for you?
I am working on a Writing Course for middle and high schoolers (before the Chatbots take over) and writing an op-ed about the importance of learning to write. I am also restarting my reading series, Writers Read, in NJ and scribbling ideas that might just become my next book.
