What is your book about?
How marital discord, alcoholism and suicidal despair led her to buy a 35-foot sailboat, teach herself how to sail and spend 7 years sailing mostly alone, sometimes with her teenaged daughter, in the Pacific.
What inspired you to write your book?
In the hopes of helping others trapped in a destructive relationship and addiction will be inspired by my experiences to make courageous changes in their lives.
What is a typical day like for you?
I am completing the sequel to Out of the Fog. I also read articles and newsletters about writing. I also own a small guesthouse in my garden that I rent out nightly so that takes some time marketing it and prepping it for arriving guests.
What do you most enjoy about what you do?
I love working on my books and dreaming up future subjects to write a book on.
What are some favorite books you’d recommend to our readers?
Wild by Cheryl Strayed; Treasure Island and others by Robt. L. Stevenson, and so many more.
What advice do you have to offer our readers?
If you want to write a book or article, best to dedicate a certain amount of time each day to sit at the computer working on something or jotting down ideas for new books to write. Even if you can’t write anything, still sit there for at least 30 mins. and soon, ideas will come.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
That I almost drowned 3 times as a kid in the Pacific and still I bought that sailboat, taught myself to sail and cover over 4,000 miles mostly alone out there.
What’s next for you?
To complete the sequel and then start working on the next book (I already know what I will be working on next).
