What is your “day job”?
I deliver high-performance thinking in a practical and relatable way. It’s something I love to do as I am genuinely curious about people and what makes them tick! I deliver psychological and mental skills training and coaching to elite athletes, Australian Special Operations and other military settings, and to corporate clients. I share my messages with a broader audience through the authorship side of my business.
What is your latest book about and when was it published?
The Quotivation Series is a collection of books being released through 2026, giving different sectors a year-long reflection opportunity through the inspiration of quotes. Each week features a quote in the book (which can also be emailed to the reader) for reflection and action planning. I also include reflection prompts for those who want to delve deeper with my support. Organizations can ‘white label’ the books to share the quote messages with their staff and clients.
What inspired you to write your book?
I have worked for over three decades in my field of expertise. Throughout that time, quotes have been a central part of the work and a motivating factor for inspiration and action steps for my clients. When I collated the quotes I have collected over the years I had more than 30 pages! Books specialized for different audiences allows reflections to particularly assist those high achievers.
What success did you achieve with your book that you’d like to share?
I am constantly exploring ways to make my books available to readers, whether it be collaborating with clubs for fundraisers, white-labelling my Quotivation books, and offering them as packages to clients who engage me for workshops and keynotes.
How has publishing your books helped support your career?
They have certainly been a launchpad for where my career is currently. By way of example, a reader gifted my first book, The Elite to a Defence Member. The next thing I knew, I was delivering a keynote address to a Special Operations High Performance Optimisation Symposium with 200 delegates from across the world, all receiving a copy of the book. The connections that presentation offered (thanks in part to my book) were significant.
If the NFAA and/or our community was instrumental in helping you achieve this success, how?
The NFAA offers a rare opportunity to connect with other NF authors in a friendly and collegiate community. I look forward to our monthly catchups.
What’s next for you?
I am currently completing my work on the Quotivation Series. Following this, my focus shifts to writing my next book. The upcoming project addresses the mechanics of long-term persistence. It will serve as a guide on leveraging grit to secure success.
