How much time do I need to dedicate each week to implement the lessons from this course?
We know how busy you are, so the goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to complete the tasks in two hours per week, or less. Each course module includes a step-by-step implementation plan with prompts to complete and checklists of steps to take. We don’t want you to leave with a bunch of notes, feeling overwhelmed and wondering what to do next, so we have outlined the exact steps to help you achieve results as quickly as possible.
How long before I see results?
Establishing AUTHORity doesn’t happen overnight, but with the actionable strategies you will be implementing throughout the course, we anticipate you will begin seeing results before the final course session.
What if I don't yet have a website?
We will cover essential website branding elements and search engine optimization in this course, and though we won’t actually build websites, you will be well-equipped to hire a web designer and implement all that you learn here.
What if my book isn't done yet?
Perfect timing! You do not have to be an author to participate in this course. In fact, learning how to establish AUTHORity ahead of writing or publishing your book will give you some valuable insights when it comes to plotting your publishing path.
I'm a memoir writer. Is this course for me?

Does this course work for fiction, too?

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR: STEPHANIE CHANDLER
Many of you know me as CEO of the Nonfiction Authors Association, but what you may not know is that I have established AUTHORity in my chosen fields TWICE!
In 2004, I began writing articles about small business issues (I was essentially blogging before blogging became a thing!). I noticed that every time I added a new article to my site, the traffic increased, so I kept at it. I grew an email list, began speaking at events, and gave dozens of media interviews. Within just a couple of years, I had several traditional book deals and a variety of five- and six-figure sponsorships. I was also selling digital products and landing paid speaking engagements. It was an incredibly fun and exciting time!
But, after a few years, I kept feeling called to work with authors. I advised friends on their publishing journeys, and before I knew it, I was speaking at writers’ conferences and events. I started my own hybrid publishing company, while still under contract with a literary agent.
In 2010, I launched the first Nonfiction Writers Conference, followed by the Nonfiction Authors Association in 2013. I was inspired to host the conference and start a community because, while speaking at other writing events, I wondered why nobody was serving those of us who write nonfiction. I saw a need in the market, took a chance, and quickly carved out a niche as an expert in nonfiction book publishing and promotion.
For a while, I straddled both communities: small business owners and nonfiction authors. But it was exhausting, and I knew I had to choose a lane. I ultimately chose nonfiction authors because it was the audience I felt most passionate about serving, and I walked away from the small-business space (and all those sponsorships — ouch!).
The point is that I established AUTHORity in these fields, and I promise you can do the same in your chosen field. There is a lot more noise online today, and more books crowding the nonfiction categories, but there is always room for a new AUTHORity.
Together, we will define your niche, establish your goals, and build a sustainable plan to grow your career in whatever direction is most important to you. Whether your goal is to grow your income or increase your impact, we will develop a plan you can execute.
