After decades of healing in recovery, a midwestern mother of two teenage sons is suddenly drawn toward Buddhist meditation practice. Constance Casey, MDiv., is a graduate of the Spirit Rock Community Dharma Leader Training Program and was empowered to teach by Jack Kornfield and Trudy Goodman. She holds a Masters of Divinity degree from Naropa University, where she is endorsed to teach Mindfulness Meditation Instruction. Constance’s teachings draws primarily from the suttas in Theravāda Buddhism, and she integrates insights from her extensive engagement with Twelve Step Recovery, Christian contemplative, and Sōtō Zen practices into her open and inclusive approach. As an interfaith hospital chaplain, Constance volunteered to provide compassionate care to countless individuals, including those facing the end of life, and their families, emphasizing the natural expressions of human experience, from grief and loss to joy and peacefulness. With a background in addiction counseling, she deeply respects and values each person’s unique spiritual journey, offering support in finding balance and meaning amidst life’s challenges. Constance’s mentoring practice includes speaking engagements, group teaching, and individual sessions, all aimed at encouraging mindfulness and awareness for personal liberation and serenity.
