About Stephanie Chandler, Course Instructor
Stephanie Chandler has a reputation for delivering content-rich workshops, presentations and events. In addition to being founder and CEO of the Nonfiction Authors Association and Writers Conference, she has authored several traditionally-published books, has numerous self-published titles to her credit, has operated a hybrid publishing company since 2008, and she’s a former brick-and-mortar bookstore owner.
Through her own author career, Stephanie has received numerous awards, spoken at hundreds of events, earned six-figure corporate sponsorships as a recognized expert in her field, and has appeared in various media outlets including CBS MarketWatch, Entrepreneur, Wired magazine, Inc.com, NewYorkTimes.com, and more.
Most importantly, Stephanie is passionate about working with nonfiction authors. She finds it deeply rewarding to help authors live their purpose and make a difference in the world.

Dear Authors and Industry Professionals,
This course and certification program were born from my personal desire to build a list of marketing consultants and implementation service providers that I can confidently refer to members of the Nonfiction Authors Association community. There are simply not enough hours in a day for me to consult with every author one-on-one, yet not a day goes by that I don’t hear from someone needing support.
Since there is no professional certification program like ours out there, I knew we had to create one. By educating authors and industry professionals on the most effective nonfiction book marketing strategies, we can empower authors while also building a team of industry pros that we can feel confident about referring to our valued community of writers.
By the way, I know how overwhelming it is to market your books. There is a ton of advice out there, and it’s hard to know which path to take or how to allocate your precious time. Here’s some good news: You don’t have to do it all!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there prerequisites required for the course or certification program?
While a basic understanding of book marketing is helpful, it is not required. For the certification program, if you plan to offer book consulting or promotion services and you aren’t already operating as a freelancer or business, we recommend that you pursue setting up your business according to guidelines in the county where you live.
Is this program for nonfiction only?
This program is brought to you by the Nonfiction Authors Association and therefore focused on strategies for nonfiction authors. However, fiction authors and professionals are welcome to participate and will still find plenty of value since at least 80% of the content also applies to fiction books.
How long does certification last? Does it need to be renewed?
Your certification remains valid forever, and no re-certification is necessary. You are also eligible to remain listed in our online directory with optional annual renewal fee of $190 (rate subject to increase). We reserve the right to remove listings from the directory if customer complaints are received and determined to be valid.
If I don’t pass the certification test with 85% or higher, can I re-take the test? Can I get a refund if I don’t pass?
We do not offer refunds for the administration of the certification program; however, you have up to 1-year to re-take the tests as many times as needed with the goal of passing.
Is the certification test timed?
No, it’s not timed. These tests are conducted online and they are self-paced. You can re-watch course recordings and refer to companion materials while taking the test.
I’m not good at taking written tests. Is it possible to take an oral version?
Yes, though we do charge an extra fee for this service. Please contact us to make arrangements.
Will you help me find clients for my business?
We do not promise business referrals of any kind. However, your listing in our Certified Book Marketing Professionals directory will receive tremendous visibility each month and may absolutely lead to new business opportunities.
Do you expect to receive a percentage of my revenue, referral fees or other compensation?
Absolutely not! This is NOT a franchise or licensing program. This is purely an educational program with an opportunity for Certified Book Marketing Professionals to advertise through out networks.
I’m based outside of the U.S. Can I participate?
We serve an international tribe of nonfiction authors and professionals and absolutely welcome you to participate in the course and certification program. Please note that the materials are currently only available in English. We also do not provide international shipping for the certificate or aluminum buttons, though if you’re willing to pay the shipping fees for those, we will do our best to make those arrangements for you.
