Marcelle has worked with hundreds of writers as an editor, publisher, teacher, coach and consultant. She is the founder of Marcelle Ink, where she teaches seminars, workshops and classes, and hosts writing events both online and in her writing studio in Wilton CT.

For six years she was the owner and Editor-in-Chief of Brain Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers one of the most well-regarded literary magazines, with an international subscriber-base and national newsstand distribution. Since its inception in 2000, Brain Child won more than a dozen literary awards, and earned a reputation of being “The New Yorker for Mothers.” In 2015, Marcelle founded Brain Teen: The Magazine for Thinking Parents, an award-winning publication whose launch was noted in the New York Times. In 2019, Brain Child and Brain Teen merged with Creative Nonfiction Foundation under the direction of Lee Gutkind. Marcelle serves on the editorial advisory board at Creative Nonfiction Magazine.

A longtime publishing executive, Marcelle has lectured at numerous colleges and universities including Emerson, The New School and New York University, and numerous conferences, including the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP), and at the Highlights Foundation. Marcelle is the former host of Carousel a 22-year running interview-style cable TV show. Her business career includes senior executive positions with research/publishing companies including Gale-Cengage, HighBeam,, Really Strategies and Bureau of Electronic Publishing.

Marcelle’s essays have been published in numerous anthologies and magazines including Blended: Writers on the Stepfamily Experience, Eating Well, and The Story on NPR. And her articles and feature stories have appeared consumer and literary magazines including Popular Science, Scholastic, and AWP Chronicle. She is the author An Iridescent Life, a book of essays, and The Body That Wants, a book of poetry. She is co-editor of This Is Childhood, an anthology.
Marcelle has an MFA from New York University and a BA in Creative Studies from Hofstra University. She lives in Wilton, Connecticut with her husband Eric and is the mother of five young adult children.
