Dr. Corcoran believes passionately in the importance of global education for the rising generation. She founded Athena Mentor in 2005, to help international students prepare for and present themselves successfully to the finest universities in the world.

Brown, Harvard, Princeton Universities . . . Oxford . . . the CNRS in Paris . . . Dr. Marlena Corcoran has held visiting research appointments at some of the world’s most prestigious academic institutions. She studied for two years at the École normale supérieure in Paris and holds a Ph.D. in English from Brown, an Ivy League university. She published two language-learning novels, Skyline-Syndikat and Tod im Grand Canyon, that together have sold over 50,000 copies.

Dr. Corcoran served for two years on the Board of Governors of the Brown Alumni Association, representing international and graduate alumni. She completed three years of service on the Brown Alumni Schools Committee, winning promotion to Regional Director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. During this time, she revolutionized the system and achieved contact rates of close to one hundred per cent. Dr. Corcoran received a Spotlight Award from Brown University for her service to the international community.
