Book Description
Two spunky little girls, Pamela and her sister Robin, are on the ride of a lifetime with their alcohol-addicted, Auntie-Mame-wannabe mother.

Koefoed tells the story from the child's pint of view, recalling in vivid details a series of crimes which send her fleeing for her life. She and her sister overcome adversity, encounter the father they never knew existed, and become caregivers to a newborn baby when their mother abandons them, during which they must figure out how to survive and remain together.

Koefoed and her sister surprise us all by their spunkiness, indomitable joy, and resiliency. In spite of the crimes committed against them and the ensuing years of neglect, they draw on the love they have for each other and rise above the unthinkable to show us all the way to a richer, more meaningful life.

Review from Amazon

"The writing of this book is a piece of art. In thinking of a way to describe it I think of pieces of music I have heard before or paintings I've seen at a famous Museum. A true artist's performance takes the audience on a journey that makes time stop. A performance with the ability to make the audience unquestioningly believe that no other moment is more important. Through this masterwork the audience is able to see new sides of the world, be torn with new hurts, and be healed in new ways.

This is what Pamela has put into this book. A journey that is so important, with so much of her wrapped around it, she is able to paint and play it to the reader with the true works of a master. JoyRide is extraordinarily well done and a journey everyone must take,"--Amazon Review, By a-nano-mouse

JoyRide, Life, Death and Forgiveness is 317 pages and includes bonus material at the end of the book, an interview with the author and discussion questions.

Favorite Quote or Personal Motto

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that"― Martin Luther King Jr., A Testament of Hope: The Essential Writings and Speeches.

"Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends..."--1 Corinthians 13:4-8.
