Compassion Mandala
Many think of Tibet as a faraway and isolated land, but my work of narrative nonfiction brings it close and makes it personal: Compassion Mandala, the first by an aid worker in Tibet.

Few outsiders can say they know Tibet, and even fewer have led development and humanitarian projects there for well over a decade. I have been working in Tibet since 1994 and traveling there since 1990. My knowledge of Chinese and Tibetan helps me converse directly with Tibetans I meet in the field, and I have kept detailed notes on many of those meetings. My latest book, Compassion Mandala, is also sourced from internal reports, letters, and other archived materials from my NGO, and I remain in touch with my former staff and others who have helped with fact-checking and translation.
