Community Connections: Relationship Marketing for Healthcare Professionals
As a healthcare professional, you’ve undergone intensive training and developed valuable skills. However, traditional healthcare curricula may not address the areas of business, finance and marketing. Proficiency in these skills – especially marketing – can help your practice succeed and allow you to genuinely connect with your communities.

Written by a healthcare professional for healthcare professionals, Community Connections is the first in a series of books designed to bridge the gap between what you are taught in school and how to market a practice in the real world. Using this collection of easy and affordable marketing ideas, any independent healthcare provider can begin forging a strong and genuine connection with potential clients, regardless of previous marketing experience.

This guide is all about building the unique relationship between a health care provider and the local community, while respecting the specific professional and legal issues inherent in that relationship.

Whether you’re a veteran in the healthcare industry or just getting started, Community Connections contains the valuable advice and practical marketing ideas you need—from the reasons most healthcare practices don’t “market,” to gaining a deeper understanding of yourself and your community at large. Discover how implementing easy and affordable marketing activities can expand the success of your healthcare practice.

Dr. Kelley Pendleton graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 2005 with a Doctorate in Chiropractic. She also holds master’s degrees in Public Health and Alternative Dispute Resolution, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Human Biology.

For more than ten years, she has worked in the health care industry in various capacities—as an employee, business owner, mentor, healthcare marketing consultant, professional speaker, and educator. When Dr. Pendleton first entered private practice, she couldn’t find a book with marketing ideas appropriate for an independent healthcare business. That struggle provided the inspiration for the Community Connections series. She hopes this series will serve as a road map for healthcare practitioners working to build the practice and community of their dreams.

She currently lives in Mandeville, Louisiana, with her fiancé, Michael, and their two furry, four-legged children: Cree and Suki.
