Dr. Gena Cox is the founder of Feels Human, Inc., an inclusion strategy, advisory, and coaching firm. Gena is a thought partner and advisor to executives who want to build organizational cultures that support diversity and inclusion. She is also a leadership development and employee experience measurement and enhancement expert and a long-standing LGBTQ+ ally.

Gena’s entire professional career has prepared her to write a book that supports executives who are jittery about diversity and inclusion issues. Although Gena earned a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (a profession that is all about measuring and improving the human experience at work), clients and colleagues say it is her interest in actual humans - more like a clinical psychologist - that enables her to gain their trust. Clients believe she wants to help them. Gena’s natural instinct to support others is why she is also an executive coach. Executives ask tough questions. And Gena has advised top leaders at some of the nation’s largest companies, including IBM, Hitachi, Johnson Controls, Mastercard, American Express, and Corning. Gena has also held leadership roles in organizations like IBM, Raymond James Financial, and Perceptyx.

Gena understands executives’ concerns and can package ideas so executives will hear them. In her opinion, executives often miss the critical subtleties of the employee experience, because much of the information they receive from direct reports is overly curated. Gena is known for telling executives truths they might not get elsewhere, and for supporting executives on a journey to define meaningful actions that support their strategic priorities.

In her professional keynote speeches, Gena challenges leaders to change the world, one employee at a time. Her forthcoming book will help leaders infuse inclusion strategies into their business operations.

Gena holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She is an International Coach Federation Professional Certified Coach and a Fellow of the Harvard Institute of Coaching.
