Author bio
Joseph Groh was employed in the HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) industry for 35 years before being rendered a C3/C4 quadriplegic (paralyzed below the shoulders) following a bicycle accident in 2008. Over the years Joe was a sales and marketing executive with Lennox Industries, Excelsior Manufacturing and Titus. At the time of his injury, he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for PCI Inc., a manufacturer of louvers, fire/smoke/air control dampers, acoustical and architectural products. These various industry appointments took Joe and his family from Chicago to Columbus, Ohio, Charlotte North Carolina and Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas.
Following his accident Joe endeavored to give back to an industry that has been so prolific in the life of his family. His grandfather, great uncle, father, uncle, aunt, cousin, sister, brother and two sons have all made/are making their living in the construction trades industry. That led Joe to start the Joseph Groh foundation in 2009, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing financial assistance to those with a connection to the construction trades industry who are living with a life altering disability. Joe and his wife Sue live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have three children, Steve, Eric and Christie.
