Seeking My Peace In The Midst Of Conflict is a memoir. The story of one man's journey in coming to terms with his homosexuality and how it has affected his faith. The narrative arc of the memoir will detail the ups and downs of the author's life most notably the downward spiral that culminated in a suicide attempt in January of 2009.

am affiliated with the central Florida chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. With the recent surge in suicides due to bullying, especially in the gay community, I want to be a voice to stop this tragedy. I traveled to Boston, MA the weekend of June 18th, 2011, to attend a symposium for the prevention of suicide in gay youth. This was an eye opening experience in the wake of the rash of gay teen suicides over the last couple of years. There is much to do to prevent this tragedy. I am a recent graduate of the Long Ridge Writers Group. My goal now is to get my last article published, Psychache: Peril in the Mind. "Psychache being the intense emotional pain and psychological pain" in the mind. (Shneidman) With my focus being on suicide causation and prevention, I am writing my memoir detailing my own experience with a suicide attempt in 2009 after years of conflict with my faith and being a gay man.

Author bio

Originally from Huntington, WV, moved to Orlando, FL in February of 2003. I have a Diploma Degree in Acounting from West Virginia Career College at Huntington in April of 1982. I am a graduate of the Long Ridge Writers Group. I am presently a Records Clerk with the law firm of Lowndes Drosdick Doster Kantor & Reed here in Orlando, a position I have held since July of 2008.

My writing coach is Linda Joy Myers, a PhD in Psychology and President of the National Association of Memoir Writers. She is also the author of the memoir, Don't Call Me Mother.

My memoir is close to 3/4 completed, with a goal of my completed manuscript by the fall of 2015.
