in progress: memoir and novel
Book Description
I've begun to write chapters for a memoir of my childhood and youth, 1960s and 1970s, Mexican-American in Los Angeles. That's me!

My draft first novel has no title yet, and it is women’s fiction. The story takes place between the 1940s and 1980s, primarily in Los Angeles. As currently conceived, a young Mexican-American woman grows up with a conventional American dream for post WWII life. She aspires to be a respectable wife in a middle class family. She will experience tragedy that sends her along an entirely new path.

Location (city/state/country)
Sacramento, CA, USA
Author bio
Judy M. Reyes was born in 1957 and raised in Highland Park, Los Angeles. The oldest of 10 siblings in a chaotic Mexican-American family,
she left home for college and never returned to live in L.A. again except in memories and short visits. However, her early life there provides a wellspring of inspiration and stories, and a richness of experience that keeps on teaching her lessons about life. Thus, she has turned to writing to express her unique viewpoint. She also assists other writers with their marketing and publishing efforts as "Reyes Author Services."

She cherishes her two children and two grandsons, and visits her family in Southern California as often as possible. Her currently home is Sacramento, CA.

Judy always has loved music, singing, and laughter and sought refuge in them as often as possible through the years, starting in high school. She is currently singing in a start-up duo and band, called "Avenue Blue."
