Vegout Voyage was created by survey data scientist Katharina Huang. Raised in Germany, the United States, and Taiwan, Katie’s multicultural upbringing ignited a deep curiosity about the shared human experience behind diverse perspectives. Her field research in Uganda and Tibet-in-Exile further shaped her pursuit of equitable representation through analytical rigor. A lifelong puzzle game enthusiast, Katie channels her obsession for The New York Times games and Highlights BrainPLAY into curating guided travel adventures that combine leisurely play with global storytelling. Outside of work, she performs in a symphonic metal band with her partner.

Hi I’m not aiming to be a professional speaker per se, but I love sharing fun conversations as a podcast guest. Here are two topics I’d be thrilled to discuss:

1. From 9-to-5 defector to indie author: My epic tale of being the first in my family to leave behind them esteemed triple-MD-PhD bleeding-edge STEM trajectories to pursue this lowly self-publishing avocation due to burnout, stubbornness, and a little thing called COVID. I think this should be fun for listeners interested in designing their own lives, work-life balance, and women-owned businesses.

2. Fostering empathy through multi-perspective storytelling: I was fortunate to have grown up in three different countries. The immersion in different societal norms equipped me with an instinct to consider multiple perspectives when making decisions. It also made me more accommodating of people who may behave differently from the patterns I’m used to. I don’t think fostering empathy needs to be a heavy topic because I learned it simply by living daily life. That’s why I try to sprinkle local quirks into my travel game books like highest domestic grossing movies or grade school teaching materials. With proper exposure, I believe anyone, any regular people like you and I, can stretch their comfort zones and enjoy a more stable, resourceful, and low-stress life.
