Vicki Ward’s essays and poetry appeared in several anthologies and collections. A former entertainment writer, covering live concerts, and stage plays, her literary focus shifted to writing books about women’s needs and concerns. She edited Life’s Spices from Seasoned Sistahs, a multiple award winning anthology showcasing the voices of mature women of color. She wrote Savvy, Sassy and Bold after 50, a handbook for maturing women packed with financial, health, and retirement strategies for women reaching midlife. This book is also ideally suited for women in their 30s and 40s seeking vital financial and career information.
Ward has presented empowerment workshops women’s and conferences at several California universities. Her anthology Life’s Spices from Seasoned Sistahs received the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award, The Bronze Award from the Independent Publishers Association, and Best Anthology from the Los Angeles Black Book Expo. Her book, Savvy Sassy and Bold after 50 received the Best Women’s Self Help Book Award from Bay Area Publishers and Authors, and an Honorable Mention from the Northern California Publishers and Authors.
Ward earned her B. A. Degree in management from St. Mary’s College of California, building a career with a California Superior Court, retiring as the Juvenile Court Administrator. Now retired, she writes full time focused on strategies to empower young adult women through maturing women to navigate new phases of their lives. She holds memberships in the Independent Publishers Association, Northern California Publishers and Authors, NonFiction Authors Association, is Vice President of Writers Resource Center, and owns Nubian Images Publishing in Brentwood, California.
