Hey, authors, I have a question for you. Think about the last three books that you read and enjoyed enough to recommend to other people. What did you love about those books, and what made you want to recommend them? Now, think about your own book. Is it recommendation worthy? If you’re writing prescriptive nonfiction, your book should offer some sort of transformation for the reader.

I’ve been talking about James Clear’s Atomic Habits for, like, three years now. I loved it so much. It was transformational for me. I learned a lot from reading that book. Does your book offer a transformation for the reader? And if you’re writing memoir or narrative nonfiction, you’re taking the reader on an unforgettable journey that is in some way relatable.

So aim for that, to offer a transformation or an unforgettable journey so that your readers want to tell their friends about the book.
