Did you get your first crappy Amazon review on your book? Congratulations. I mean, somebody’s reading your book, but I know it sucks. Nobody wants crappy reviews on their books. So here’s what you do. You can try to fight Amazon. You can report it. You can beg them to take it down. They won’t. They’re never gonna pay attention.

So instead, what you have to do is bury it. Go ask other people to write reviews. Ask your beta readers. You’re not supposed to ask family and friends, but ask people to write reviews just to bury that negative review. And keep in mind, you can’t please everyone, and sometimes those negative reviews actually help you sell books.

I had a reader once who said that my book overwhelmed her because it gave her too many ideas of things to do. She actually wrote that as a negative review for the book. Yeah, great. That’ll help sell more books because it gave value. So don’t worry too much. Don’t lose sleep over a negative review. Bury it.

We all know, even as  readers, that there are people out there that are never gonna be satisfied. They’re gonna write a a negative review no matter what. Now, caveat is, if you’re getting a bunch of negative reviews, that could be a sign that there’s something wrong with the book, so pay attention to those.

But I would say one in 15 reviews, if that’s negative, you’re probably doing just fine.
