There’s no getting around it. If you want to promote your book for the long-term, you need to build your email list of fans.
Sure, having social media followers is great. But social media platforms can change their rules on a whim and/or freeze or cancel your account. If that happens (and it does), you lose your followers.
However, no one can take your private email list of fans from you. So attracting new readers to your list should always be a priority.
A practical way to do this is to have a page on your website where you offer people a free gift (a lead magnet) in exchange for their email address.
