Tell us a bit about you. What kinds of writing do you do and what do you do for work?

I write nonfiction. My career experiences overlap in higher education, profit, and non-profit circles. Currently, I focus on leading a non-profit organization, devoted to the development of housing and full support communities for female veterans in crisis and producing my first book in a series on female conflict. Serving as the inaugural chapter leader of Atlanta NFAA will give me another opportunity to lead and be led by others through mutual love of the written word.

What are your publishing-related goals?

  1. Publish a series on books female conflict in various settings.
  2. Create a blog around same content to provide women and men with an outlet to discuss female conflict.

Why motivated you to want to run a local chapter for NFAA and what do you hope to accomplish with your chapter?

I saw a void in the Atlanta, GA area for nonfiction authors and I enjoy creating a new organization. The goal with the chapter: Be a best-practice chapter through innovative programming, involved and productive members, and a “must” appearance/connection for authors who visit and/or live in the Atlanta, GA marketplace.

What advice would you offer to fellow writers?

Talk to published authors with national and international success.

Seek unvarnished and specific feedback from same authors.

Know what you do not know; be willing to take courses and seminars from same authors on the art and science of writing nonfiction.

What do you do for fun?

Spend time with family.

Spend time with friends-family.

Spend time with my dogs.

Read!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Atlanta, GA…number 1 chapter in the country!
