Tell us a bit about you. What kinds of writing do you do and what do you do for work?
I provide ghostwriting services and web content for coaches, entrepreneurs and authors through my business Kaleidoscope Content. My writing background includes over a decade of freelance experience writing magazine articles, blogs for companies and web content for businesses. I also currently work as a story analyst for Amazon Studios and have written several scripts.
What are your publishing-related goals?
I’m currently working on a book that details the process of working with a ghostwriter. I plan to continue writing books which simplify the process of book writing and marketing for aspiring authors and published authors.
What motivated you to want to run a local chapter for NFAA and what do you hope to accomplish with your chapter? I felt it was a great opportunity to network and be around other people who are also writing their own books. I also believe that it is a great way to get some first hand knowledge about the inner workings of book writing and marketing, learn everything I can about the industry and connect with others in this field.
What advice would you offer to fellow writers? To write about not only what you know, but to address that aspect of the topic you’re most passionate about. Your personal take and experiences on a subject is what makes your writing most interesting and unique.
Please list any favorite books, tools, or resources you would recommend for fellow writers.
One of my favorite reference guides for word usage is the Flip Dictionary by Barbara Ann Kipfer. It’s worn, taped and well used.
What do you do for fun?
I take a tribal fusion dance class on weekends. I love to get out on my neighborhood hiking trail when I have the time. And my goal is to check off as many countries/cities on my bucket list as I can in my lifetime.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I’m really excited to take on the chapter leader role for Los Angeles and am looking forward to meeting the members in my community as well as everyone else involved in other areas across the network.
I am a new member of your prestigious organization, and a busy speaker; part of the Orange County, CA speakers program for Rotary International. I would be interested in delivering my Oral Presentation at a future function of the Nonfiction Authors Association in Southern California.
I am also a television and radio broadcaster. I currently work KNX 10-70 News Radio as a traffic Anchor in Los Angeles.
Finally, I am an adjunct professor at Mt. San Antonio College and Fullerton College.
Thanks for joining us, Manny!
