What services do you offer?
I am THE Podcast Matchmaker™ and offer traditional PR and podcast pitching to clients. I work with authors, entrepreneurs, nonprofits and more to define their story and unique speaking topics, identify their ideal audience and create mutually beneficial relationships between them and the media, specifically podcast hosts.
Who are your ideal clients?
My ideal client is anyone who is willing to share their story to help change the world. I believe that by sharing our story, we can help others who are on a similar journey. This applies to careers, life journeys, being a parent, race, religion, sexuality…any path of life that you are on, someone else is or has gone through as well and we can learn from each other, as well as support one another. My ideal client agrees with this and wants to share their story to help others who are listening.
How did you get started in your business?
I spent 20 years in corporate aviation selling jet fuel and decided that after having my two kids, I wanted to do something that was helping change the world for them. It was in 2018 that I discovered the podcast industry and became hooked. I fell in love with the fact that podcasts were free to listen to and are offered on every topic you could possibly think of. Although podcasts are reaching millions of people around the world, it’s still a very intimate form of communication.
I started out producing podcasts and pitching clients. It was in pitching that I recognized the reason I’d been so successful in my previous sales career…it was due to my love for genuine relationships and people. Working with clients, I listen to their life stories, expertise and learn about the journey that has led them to where they are today. From all of that, I identify and create unique speaking topics that I then pitch to podcast hosts. I ensure that the podcast audience aligns with my clients’ target audiences and am therefore know as THE Podcast Matchmaker™.
What are some common issues you help your clients with?
Outside of saving clients time with research and pitching themselves, I help clients define speaking topics that make them stand out and are anything BUT generic! I also work with clients to help them maximize their visibility by repurposing their interviews into more marketing content that saves them time while also elevating them on multiple platforms.
Can you offer one “pro tip” to our members?
I can offer two “pro tips”! The first would be to not use generic topics when pitching yourself. Use topics that are unique to you and that give meaning to who you are and what you’re known for. My other tip would be to stop waiting to pitch yourself. There’s no need to wait until your follower count reaches a certain number or for your book to have launched. The right time to start pitching yourself and doing podcast interviews is NOW!
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
I love seeing my clients land interviews and hear them tell their stories that ultimately help listeners around the world. It’s the best feeling to hear of their successes, whether it’s more book sales, being asked to speak at a conference, a job offer or new clients and how it all tied back to their podcast interviews. I truly feel like I’m changing the world one voice at a time.
What’s next for you?
I just finished my first book about podcast guesting and hope to see it come to life in 2023. I’ll also be doing more podcast interviews myself and continuing to grow The MLG Collective agency.
