MESSAGES FROM FLORENCE is an American expat’s experience of living in Florence, Italy, after a sudden life change occurred. As a result, she launched herself into Florence’s embrace, seeking solace and guidance.
In the years that followed, she discovered Florence’s wisdom coupled with her beauty. While meandering through the city streets, watching sunsets and sunrises, running along the Arno River, and visiting gardens, her beloved city would whisper messages to her. They encouraged her to be more present, revel in her surroundings, and experience the world through her heart. Florence gifted her with a sight to behold, thus enhancing the experience. To commemorate the moment, she snapped a photo.
In this book, each of Florence’s messages is accompanied with a photo and an anecdote of her time communing with her beloved city.

Originally from California, I have lived overseas for most of my adult life. I moved to Paris, France, a few months after graduating from university to work for a French software company as a technical writer. Thanks to an ad in a Parisian newsletter for expats, I attended writing workshops with Kathleen Spivack, who sparked my love of writing.
Since 2004, I have been living in Florence where my beloved city has inspired me to ground herself more in my surroundings, perceive more beauty around me, be open to inspiration, and nurture and honor my heart.
I published a non-fiction book, "Messages from Florence" in August 2025. I am currently editing a novel and two non-fiction books while still working as a freelance web developer.
